Modified (15-July) : 槟城申遗成功 / Georgetown (to be more specific) is listed as World Heritage Sites

(A lof of links in this post.)
Ha, finally..... [Add-in: GuangMing 1, 2]
I guess the winning is not purely on the buildings, but the accommodation of cultures and religions among the races.
There are pros and cons.
Pros are: Penang can use this title to promote tourism, and...etc.
Cons are:
Development still can run but not within the heritage region.
Maintenance could be a drawback because of pre-war house owners as well as current cost-saving situation.

That was long efforts behind. [Add-in: Khoo Salma]
Check this out:
The Star, PHT, and there are more stories from the expert 陈耀威 (1,2,3...), as well as in SinChew and KwongWah.

There will be celebration held from 25(Fri) to 27(Sun) July.
Details: KwongWah, SinChew

However, Melaka celebrates for 1 month!!
Well, now you know who's the tauke behind the curtain :-p

The schedule (Penang one) is as follows.
I think 26(Sat) might be a good day as there are activities such as open houses/bridges.
